How to write an Undergraduate thesis correctly and quickly
The Undergraduate thesis is an independent final study conducted by Bachelor students in their fourth year of study. After completing a bachelor’s degree, students can continue their studies in a master’s degree. In the article, we talked about how to write a bachelor thesis, its characteristics and objectives.
What is an undergraduate thesis?
The bachelor thesis is a qualifying work, after a successful defence of which the student receives a diploma. It shows the knowledge and skills of the graduate. It differs from the diploma thesis in that it is more practical and less theoretical.
During the internship, the student collects the material for the undergraduate thesis. The volume of the work is 40-70 pages. Applications are not counted.
The structure of the undergraduate thesis
The standard structure corresponds almost to the structure of a final project or thesis.
- cover;
- note;
- content;
- introductory part;
- main part;
- final part;
- Bibliography;
- Application.
The main difference is the mandatory presence of a note, which is between the title page and the content. The note is written by the author of the work.
Sometimes it is necessary to compile a separate list of terms and abbreviations used in work. This is necessary when the text contains many specific definitions and infrequently-used abbreviations. The list is between the content and the introduction.
Before starting work, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the manuals for your department. Sometimes universities have their work structure requirements.
Work preparation plan: from choosing a topic to writing
Writing a bachelor thesis is easier than a diploma thesis but easier than a final project. It is recommended to work in stages.
- Choice of supervisor
Students do not write their thesis. A supervisor is always provided to assist them. We recommend that you go to the scientist for whom you previously wrote the assignment. In this case, it is possible to develop a ready-made topic and use the developments in the study document.
- Choice of topic
Choice of topic is the same as for study and diploma theses. You can choose a topic from the list suggested by the department or propose your own. If you have an agreement with the scientist to work on the topic on which the final paper was written, this is the best option.
When choosing a topic from the list, arrive early, so you have plenty of options. Moreover, there is no reason to be afraid of these problems. They have been compiled by all employees of the department based on the material covered and the work that has already been written so that completely unfamiliar and complex topics do not arise.
The topic must be agreed with the researcher. Topics are assigned to students on behalf of the Rector. To change the subject, you must write a special statement.
- Planning
If you know the topic, you can create a rough work plan. As a reminder, the work plan differs in structure. The plan has no cover, content, or other structural parts. The outline reflects the content of the work and how it will expand the topic.
The completed plan must be approved by the teacher. Moreover, only after that can you start working.
- Literature Selection
When you have decided on the topic and plan, you must select the literature. Remember that academic papers have age requirements for literature. It must not be more than 5 years old. Theoretical works on history for which it is expressly necessary to use primary sources are excluded.
As a general rule, the student chooses the literature himself and then shows it to the scientist. However, if you have a good relationship with him, he can make a list for you himself.
The lack of the necessary amount of adequate literature is one of the reasons for the change of subject.
- Admission requirements
Degree theses are prepared by the general rules for the design of scientific works of all kinds, study and final theses. However, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the manual; your college may have enrollment requirements.
The same applies to the requirements for the proportion of uniqueness of work in anti-plagiarism services.
Defence of the undergraduate thesis
The protection plan is created in advance. The work can be defended by the superior. The researcher writes a review of the work and gives it the recommended grade. In addition, the work must be reviewed by an independent specialist in the field of the defence copywriter of the work.
The student brings the printed paper for her defence. Prepare brochures if necessary. The student writes the defence speech independently or with the help of a teacher. In defence, she is accompanied by presentations.
